For all of our bolts, whether it is a stainless steel bolt, threaded rod, high tensile bolt, low tensile bolt or socket screw, we have the correct assembly nuts and assembly washers for your application.

Gippsland Bolts and Fasteners stock a full range of washers in both metric and imperial sizes.  We can supply you with zinc washers, galvanised washers, stainless steel washers, or plain finish washers.  According to your needs, we have the right washer for the job:

  • Standard flat round washers, suitable for use in most normal applications
  • Heavy duty hardened flat washers, suitable for use in critical high load situations
  • spring washers, suitable for use in high vibration or moving environments
  • load indicating washers, suitable for use in construction industry where there are specific torque requirements, including belleville lock washers
  • serrated lock washers, suitable for use in workshops for specific uses
  • internal tooth lock washers or star washers, suitable for use in various applications
  • external tooth lock washers or star washers, suitable for use in various applications
  • mud guard / panel washers, suitable for use in various applications
  • structural washers, suitable for use in the construction industry to be matched to structural bolts and structural nuts

Washers are used to perform various functions for example; to increase the clamping area of a bolt and nut, therefore spreading the load over a greater area avoiding the material being bolted from crushing or being damaged, or simply to extend the clamping area to achieve a more uniform clamping pressure.

Some washers are used to assist in keeping the connection tight when there are forces such as vibration or constant movement; in this case the use of internal and external tooth (star washers) for lighter applications or spring washers for heavier applications is appropriate. Belleville washers are designed to keep tension on a nut that has loosened slightly and can be used in stacks to increase the load on the nut.

Where joints require specific torque settings, load indicating washers are used; these are normally specified by the engineers for a particular job.

Structural Washers are used to spread the load over a larger surface area and to provide a smooth surface to present to the bolt head and nut thus preventing grab from the surfaces being bolted.
